Prenuptial Agreement Support in Thailand
A prenuptial agreement (สัญญาก่อนสมรส) sets out how property and assets are treated within the marriage. In Thailand the timing is critical because it must be registered together with the marriage at the district office (amphur). We help Thai-foreign couples think it through calmly and coordinate the right people.

Punchaya is not a lawyer. We provide coordination and document support. When legal drafting is needed, we work with trusted Thai legal professionals on your behalf.
Why couples consider it
Six situations where a prenup helps
Pick a situation that resonates with yours to see why couples in similar shoes choose to put things in writing.
Pre-marital property
A prenup helps document what each partner is bringing into the marriage so that pre-marital assets stay clearly separate (sin suan tua) from shared marital property (sin somros).
Signals we often see
- Condo in your name
- Land owned before marriage
- Family inheritance
Thai marital property
Personal vs. marital property
Thai law distinguishes two property categories within a marriage. A prenup helps draw that line clearly, in your own words.
Personal property
Sin Suan Tua
Assets owned before the marriage, inheritance, and personal items. A prenup helps document what belongs in this category.
Marital property
Sin Somros
Assets acquired during the marriage and income earned together. A prenup can specify exceptions and how growth is treated.

Myths & reality
What couples often worry about
Honest answers to the doubts we hear most often before a prenup conversation.
“A prenup means we don't trust each other.”
Most couples we help see it as a calm, shared conversation about the future, not a sign of doubt.
“We can sign one after the wedding.”
In Thailand, a prenup must be registered together with the marriage at the amphur. After registration it's generally not possible to add one.
“An agreement from abroad is enough.”
A foreign prenup may not be recognized the same way in Thailand. A Thai prenup, registered with the marriage, gives local legal clarity.
“It's only for wealthy couples.”
Property, businesses, savings, pensions and inheritance can matter at any scale. A prenup is about clarity, not just amounts.
